WE HAVE FROM A NEW ORLEANS, La. ESTATE THIS PERIOD REVOLTIONARY WAR AMERICAN CHIPPENDALE CHERRY & MAHOGANY SLANT LID DESK. THIS IS PERIOD LATE 18TH CENTURY AMERICANA THAT EVERYBODY WHO LOVES EARLY AMERICANA SHOULD HAVE. THE CONDITION IS IN GOOD TO VG WITH NO APPARENT DINGS OR DENTS INTO THE FURNITURE. I BELIEVE THE BRASSES ARE ORIGINAL TO THE CHEST BUT NUTS HAVE BEEN PARTIALLY REPLACED. THE BOTTOM OF THE CABINET WERE THE LEGS ARE ATTACHED ARE FASTENED BY SQUARE HAND MADE NAILS. THIS IS NOT A CENTENNIAL PIECE, BUT A DESK CLOSE TO 250 YEARS OLD! IDEAL FOR A NEW ENGLAND HOME AS I BELIEVE THIS IS RHODE ISLAND OR MASS. CONSTRUCTED BY THE STYLE OF THE DESK. NO NAME OR IDENTIY APPEARS ON THE DESK OR ITS COMPARTMENTS.THIS DESK HAS A TRADITIONAL INTERIOR WITH SCALLOPED CUBBIES & DOCUMENT DRAWERS.
